Nearly all of them run on NinjaTrader, most charge one-time or monthly evaluation fees rather than a challenge-plus-reset model, and the spread between the best and worst of them is wide. Two active risk flags worth reading before the rest of this list
Most futures-firm roundups just rank on price and split. Two firms on this list currently carry a live trust issue that's easy to miss if you're only comparing numbers:
Topstep — despite the strongest track record here (15 years, $1.5B+ paid), a 2026 federal lawsuit alleges deceptive changes to Live Program rules and payout caps cut by roughly 50–60% in April 2026; none of this is addressed on Topstep's own site, so it's sourced from trader and legal reporting only, not confirmed directly. Separately, Topstep disclosed a data breach on August 4, 2026 involving names, SSNs, dates of birth and medical information, reported to the Illinois and Texas Attorneys General. Neither issue means the firm is non-functional — traders are still getting funded and paid — but both are current and unresolved, and belong in the decision alongside the 15-year history.
Alpha Futures — carries a caution trust flag in our data because its Premium plan closed on July 12, 2026, with pending payouts converted to refunds rather than paid out as originally structured, and the firm lost its NinjaTrader/Tradovate integrations while migrating to an in-house platform. Its remaining Zero plan still functions, but this is a firm mid-transition, not a stable pick right now.
